Nose Job Rhinoplasty Plastic Surgery

Nose Job Rhinoplasty Plastic Surgery, is a surgical procedure that can reduce or increase the size of your nose, as well as altering the shape of the nose. During the surgery, Prof Wilson can increase or reduce the size of the nose, change the shape of the tip of the nose and the bridge of the nose and the nostrils. He can also during the same surgery change the angle between the nose and the upper lip; and straighten the septum with a procedure called septoplasty. There are limits to how much a nose can be altered. The final result will depend on the size of your nose, the condition of your skin and your age.  You should bear in mind that surgery alone would not solve any emotional or social problems you may think are caused by your nose or your appearance in general.

Nose Job Rhinoplasty  may also correct a birth defect or injury, or help relieve some breathing problems. Sometimes certain breathing problems related to the internal nasal structures could be corrected at the same time with the nose reshaping.

Rhinoplasty Surgery  (Nose Job) is one of the most difficult plastic surgery procedures to perform. The difference between a good result and a poor result is a millimeter. Rhinoplasty surgery (Nose Job) is as much about art as it is surgery.

How is Nose Job Performed?

Anesthesia:

Rhinoplasty can be performed under local anesthesia if it involves only the soft tissues. Professor Wilson prefers general anesthesia if he will be doing bony work.

Surgical Steps:

There are two types of rhinoplasty (Nose Job) surgery, closed rhinoplasty and open rhinoplasty. Prof Wilson performs the closed approach from within the nose, using incisions inside the nostrils. The beauty of that technique is that it leaves absolutely no scars on the nose, and this is why Prof Wilson prefers it. He performs the open approach by separating the skin of the nose from its supporting framework of bone and cartilage. The nose is then sculpted to the desired shape.

There are an infinite number of techniques which can be utilized to sculpt the underlying framework. Sometimes, Prof Wilson might alter the position of certain bones slightly in order to make your nose look narrower and straighter. In other cases, he might use nasal cartilage, or perhaps bone or cartilage from another site to build up the nose. The skin and soft tissues then redrape themselves over this new “scaffolding.”

After surgery, the nurse applies a splint to help your nose maintain its new shape. Sometimes if necessary, Professor Wilson applies soft plastic splints to the nostrils to stabilize the septum and divide the wall between the air passages. This will improve your nasal airway.

Care after Nose Job Rhinoplasty Plastic Surgery:

After the surgery, you will go home the same day with pain and antibiotic medications prescribed.

  • Prof Wilson believes that proper positioning after surgery is the most important factor to reduce swelling and promote healing. He advises that you prop your head up with 3-4 pillows and rest for a few days after surgery. It is also important to avoid sneezing after the surgery,  so you should avoid avoid smoky or dusty places as well as irritant odors. If you have to sneeze, you can do it through your mouth.

You might also need to rest for a day or two, and avoid any strenuous activity.

  • You should expect Swelling and bruising after the surgery. They usually subside within 7- 10 days

  • Professor Wilson schedules the Follow-up visits for the 4rd, and 11th day after surgery. In the former visit, he removes the nasal pack, whereas he removes the splint in the latter visit.

  • Most patients need Nasal decongestant sprays for 1 month or more to clear the airways and reduce swelling.

  • You should be patient after a nose job, the  final results of the procedure may not be visible for several months.
