Tummy Tuck Abdominoplasty Surgery
Tummy Tuck Abdominoplasty Plastic Surgery, technically is a is a type of cosmetic surgery to help improve the shape of the tummy area (abdomen). Prof Wilson during a tummy tuck removes the excess skin and tightens the muscles of the abdomen. This procedure gives the stomach a flat and firm look, thus creating a tummy profile that is smoother & firmer. This type of cosmetic surgery is usually long lasting. Prof Wilson might sometimes add Liposuction to aid an improved overall result.
To achieve maximum results after a tummy tuck surgery you should incorporate a healthy lifestyle. This includes a balanced diet and an exercise program. Prof. Wilson will help you set up a specific program if you should so desire.
Am I a good candidate for Tummy Tuck Abdominoplasty Plastic Surgery?
Appropriate candidates are patients in good physical and mental health with reasonable expectations.
MINI ABDOMINOPLASTY If you have good skin tone and a small amount of skin laxity, especially just below your navel, you may be an appropriate candidate for a mini abdominoplasty. Characteristically, Dr Wilson removes the extra skin below the navel through a small incision hidden in the pubic area.
FULL Tummy Tuck Prof Wilson performs a traditional abdominoplasty (tummy tuck) if you have extra skin above and below the navel.
EXTENDED ABDOMINOPLASTY If you have a significant amount of skin all the way around your central body, you may be a candidate for an extended abdominoplasty (extended tummy tuck). This surgery lifts not only the abdomen but also the lateral thighs and buttocks. Consequently, the incision extends around to the back of the body.
Professor Wilson will review all of your surgical options at the time of your consultation, and discuss in detail pros and cons of each option.

Abdominoplasty (Tummy Tuck) consultation?
During your consultation, Prof Wilson will explain the surgery, its limitations and risks, and discuss your needs and concerns. Then he will examine your body and will consider such factors as the quality of your skin and contour of your body. Finally, he will explain which surgical techniques are most appropriate for you. Subsequently, the assistant will take photographs and you might like to schedule an additional consultation to view computer imaging of the expected result.
Furthermore, you should come to the consultation prepared to discuss your medical history. This will include information about any medical conditions, drug allergies, previous surgeries and medications that you currently take.
How is a Tummy Tuck (Abdominoplasty) performed?
There are many types of abdominoplasties and body lifts, from mini to extended. Prof Wilson will determine which is best for you at the time of the initial consultation. Elements that will influence the decision include your body habitus, amount of redundant skin and fat that you have in your abdominal wall and trunk area.
A “mini” abdominoplasty (mini-tummy tuck) involves a small scar 10 cm long, to access and remove extra skin below the umbilicus. Alternately, in “extended abdominoplasty”, an incision is made circumferentially around the waist to remove excess skin and restore the diameter of the waist. In almost all cases, Vaser Liposuction of the upper part of the abdomen is performed to achieve the High Definition 4 Dimensional cosmetic outcome.
Care After Tummy Tuck Abdominoplasty:
When you do get up and move around; try to avoid doing any movements that put stress specifically on your tummy muscles. Furthermore, it is advisable to use 2 pillows under the knee while sleeping to relieve any pressure on the muscle repair. Some patients find it more comfortable when getting out of bed to try to roll sideways.
The important thing is not to try to do too much too soon and allow your pain to guide you. When you feel more comfortable, you might want to take longer walks of maybe 5 to 10 minutes at a time.
It is also worth noting that when walking, you may find yourself stooping forward for a few days. This will gradually improve until you are walking with a straight back.
Over activity in the early days reduces healing and increases fluid accumulation.
It is advised that you do not attempt to do any vigorous sports (or any activity) or carry anything heavy for at least 4-6 weeks after you have had tummy tuck surgery.
What is the cost of Tummy Tuck (Abdominoplasty)?
Professor Wilson believes that affordable cost plastic surgery is the right of every individual. Many factors affect the cost of tummy tuck, including the extent of surgery, type of surgery, use of endoscopy, and other factors. After the consultation you will be offered an affordable price quote.
